Week 3
This is the 3rd week of classes and I don’t quite know what to do. The students seem bored with PowerPoints. I worked so hard on them! I actually saw some students roll their eyes when I showed them the slides the first day, which took the wind right out of my sails. I don’t understand why because the slides are visual, give them a good outline for the content so they can listen during lecture more easily. Maybe it’ll help if I print them out and let the students take notes directly on the slides. That should be a great study guide.

Week 1
It’s the start of another new school year. That makes my 16th year of teaching middle school science. Over the summer I created PowerPoint slides for some of the labs for the first grading period. The slides have all the lab notes, pictures, and even some sound files. I think I did a great job on them and that this will be a great improvement and a good use of technology. I’m excited about using the slides. I also found some good websites that I’ll use during classtime. I have my own webpage on the school server—all teachers have to have one.
