Kim Dockery, Associate Consultant
Kim Dockery was appointed Assistant Superintendent for Department of Special Services for Fairfax County Public Schools in September 2008. Mrs. Dockery has spent 15 years as a special education teacher, assistant principal and Principal in Fairfax County Public Schools. Previous experience includes teaching general education in Georgia and Missouri in grades K to 7. Her work as principal of Westlawn Elementary School, a diverse Title I school, from 2003-2008 revolved around bringing a culture of teacher leadership to the Professional Learning Community at Westlawn and FCPS. Westlawn’s Teacher Leadership Development grant modeled a new way of thinking about summer programs and resulted in the pilot of a district site based delivery model. She has served on the National Basic School Board as well as the Boyer Center Board both focused on the work of Dr. Ernest Boyer. Mrs. Dockery has been a presenter at many national conferences, including the VASCD, ASCD, National Basic School Conference and AATE and has worked extensively with administrators and teachers in Fairfax County Public Schools on topics such as sustaining PLCs, developing formative assessments, and analyzing assessment data as well as many topics related to special education models, service delivery and inclusive schools all linked to her passion of maximizing teacher and student learning. |
